It was plenty of nostalgia, throwback fun and schoolyard revelry at the this year’s NSC Dinner and Dance event held at Pan Pacific Singapore on 28 May, Saturday. An unexpected majority of the staff turned up sportingly clad in old uniforms, which were dug out from wardrobes, or borrowed from family members and friends.

The pre-event cocktail saw many uniform-clad ‘students’ getting air-brushed tattoos or their caricatures drawn, while some others queued for snacks of their younger days, such as muah chee or dragon beard candy. The evening kicked off with a lovely rendition of The Carpenters’ We Only Just Begun by the Centre’s Director A/Prof Tan Suat Hoon, who came befittingly dressed as a headmistress.

Led by an engaging and vivacious emcee, all guests were treated to boisterous night of stage games, light-hearted competitions and humorous dance segments. The highlight of the evening was the school-themed dance performance put up by NSC’s own doctors and staff, which charted the evolution of music from the early eighties to the present, and was received with thunderous cheer from the audience.

The night rounded off with a heart-warming mass dance and the lucky draw presentation, which saw lucky winners walking off with generous cash vouchers and prize hampers.
