This handbook is a culmination of efforts by our dermatologists based on their experience in the management of dermatological patients at the National Skin Centre. The objective of the handbook is to impart clear myths and misconceptions of common skin diseases. It hopes to impart knowledge and understanding in of common skin diseases to the lay public. However, readers should not treat the book as a medical textbook to treat their skin disease but rather use it as a guide to understand skin diseases. Readers should consult their doctors and get themselves referred to dermatologists when necessary. Readers can use the book to supplement information about their skin diseases after they have consulted their doctors. This book will benefit individuals with and without skin disease to enhance their knowledge on common skin diseases.
The contents include structure and function of the skin; clinical presentation of common skin diseases, and the do's and don'ts when you suffer from various skin diseases. It contains extensive colour photographs of various skin diseases for illustration. "A Handbook on Common Skin Diseases" compiled by Senior Consultant Dermatologist Dr Chong Wei Sheng, is the second edition published by the National Skin Centre. The first edition was written by our Senior Consultant Dermatologist Clinical Professor Goh Chee Leok. We hope that this book will help NSC enhance its image as a leading dermatological treatment centre.
