• To acquire a basic knowledge in the principles of skin care
• To understand the treatment options and care management for Scabies, Eczema and Psoriasis.

Who Should Attend?
For Nurses and Healthcare Assistants in Intermediate and Long term care (ILTC)/Hospitals

Delivery Mode
Lectures/ tutorials by dermatology trained nurses

Practical sessions
Hands on session on specific nursing procedures will be conducted in the Centre.

• Basic wound care
• Topical applications
• Wet wrap / Potassium Permanganate compress

Duration of Course
2-day course: 5th & 6th April 2018

Course Objectives
Understand the importance of a holistic approach in skin assessment

• Understand the common types of skin conditions
• Learn about the causes and triggering factors for eczema
• Learn about the laboratory tests and specific investigations
• Learn about the treatment guidelines for common dermatoses
• Able to communicate effectively to ensure safe and effective care delivery
• Able to perform skin care counseling and provide patient education
• Understand the emotional, social and psychological impact of chronic skin diseases.

Who Should Attend?
For nurses with at least 1 -2 years experience in dermatology setting in an institution or hospital

• Clinical Attachments

Assessment
A case study and written assessment

6-week course: 14th May 2018 to 22nd June 2018
