During the World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) 2019 in Milan, Singapore was announced as the host city for the 2023 edition. This is the first time WCD is being held in South-east Asia in its 130-year history. The international conference aims to promote the science and practice of dermatology by providing a platform for specialists from around the world to showcase new knowledge, exchange clinical experiences and scientific research, and to build networks and collaborations.
The successful bid was a result of a collective effort between Singapore's National Skin Centre (NSC) and the Dermatological Society of Singapore (DSS). The WCD 2023 Bid Committee comprised NSC's Prof Roy Chan, Prof Goh Chee Leok, Prof Tan Suat Hoon and Adj A/Prof Lim Yen Loo – President, Honorary President, Vice President and Secretary General of the committee respectively – together with Dr Tee Shang-Ian, Adj A/Prof Martin Chio and Adj A/Prof Steven Thng.
