Background
Non-melanoma skin cancers such as
squamous cell carcinomas and basal cell carcinomas can be treated using a
variety of methods, but surgery remains the principal form of treatment used.
As incomplete tumour
excision portends a potentially increased risk of tumour
recurrence, one of the primary goals of our dermatologic surgeons is to
ensure that they are adequately excised.
Clinical
Indicator
Rate of Incomplete Tumor Excision: Our rates of incomplete tumour
excision for both Basal Cell Carcinomas and Squamous Cell Carcinomas show that
we are consistently below the target of 4%. The experience of our
surgeons, along with adherence to recommended excision margins, allows us
to achieve favorable outcomes in our patients.
